Curriculum
The curriculum at the Chadwick is both personalised and flexible. Provision mapping and base line assessments on entry ensure that all pupils are challenged and supported to make progress and achieve. Barriers to learning are assessed and additional individualised support and interventions are put in place to ensure maximum success.
The curriculum takes into account the requirements of the National Curriculum wherever possible given that the aim for most pupils is to be reintegrated back into mainstream education. It aims to promote positive attitudes to learning and encourages cooperation between pupils and staff. Rigorous monitoring of progress aims to optimise success and identify and then fill gaps in prior learning.
At Key Stage 3 pupils follow a curriculum similar to that of a mainstream school so as to make reintegration a smooth process.
At Key Stage 4 pupils follow a core curriculum of Mathematics, English, Science, PSHE, PE and then are able to select from a variety of options such as Art, Catering, Psychology, Business Studies, Salon Skills, Construction, Forest School, Football Academy and History.
Most courses are delivered to GCSE level or equivalent.
