Key Stage 4 Science

Students experience a wide range of new topics and skills at KS4 whilst following the AQA Trilogy or Triple science specifications. Each topic strand is linked intrinsically to prior knowledge and skills from KS3 and build in, terms of complexity, skills and application. Our aim is that all students should leave Chadwik High School being able to understand and explain the scientific world around them and more importantly are equipped with the skills to problem solve and critically evaluate the wider World. To support this, lessons are thoroughly planned and differentiated lesson outcomes embedded in each lesson. Curriculum plans are designed to cover all content and enable students to access materials for the required practical.

GCSE Combined Science -Trilogy

GCSE specifications in combined award science enables students to:

  • Obtain scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding, through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
  • Create a deep understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science, through different types of scientific enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.
  • Improve and learn by applying observational, practical, modelling, enquiry and problem-solving skills, both in the laboratory, in the field and in other learning environments
  • Be able to evaluate claims based on science through critical analysis of the methodology, evidence and conclusions, both qualitatively and quantitatively. (Information taken from AQA website)
